Replacing hospital bleeps

Infinity allows hospital staff to create and assign tasks to their team and track activity in real-time, in one place. Replacing non-emergency bleeps (or pagers) with Infinity improves safety, efficiency and experiences for patients and staff.

Dr Jo Garland, Clinical Director at Infinity Health, provides an overview of Infinity for bleep replacement.

Infinity has made a big difference. I’m provided with much more information a lot faster, meaning my job list is easily visualised, easier to prioritise and makes task management a lot slicker. It’s more secure and there’s accountability when assigning tasks, which can be an issue with verbal handover of tasks.
— Sophie Gealy • Junior Doctor, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

How it works

Following the onboarding of a trust, NHS staff can download Infinity on iOS or Android, sign in using their existing hospital credentials, set their availability and notifications, and get started.

Banishing the bleeps at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Infinity has helped save Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s out of hours team 91 minutes per user per shift and reduced the number of non-emergency bleeps they receive.

  • 91

Minutes saved per user per shift

  • 62.5%

Users reported reduced risk of error

Benefits

  1. Better team collaboration

Multidisciplinary team members can see who is available in their team and have better visibility of tasks that are being completed, by who, and where. Staff can coordinate care easily by creating, assigning, and re-assigning tasks to their team members, from anywhere.

  2. Improved staff experience

Staff report less stress and anxiety following the reduction of non-emergency bleeps. Less time is wasted responding to bleeps and clarifying details and requesting tasks is more efficient overall. Better management of their workload frees up time to spend with patients.

  3. Safer patient care

Staff no longer miss bleeps, receive calls that interrupt care, or spend time trying to find the person who bleeped them. Staff have access to the right information, in real-time, in one place, meaning more informed conversations with patients. The data collected provides an audit trail of patient and team activity.
