Infinity Health shortlisted for HSJ Awards 2022
Infinity Health is proud to reveal that it has been jointly shortlisted in the “Driving Efficiency Through Technology” category with customer Somerset NHS Foundation Trust (SFT). The prestigious awards received over 1000 entries this year and recognise excellence and outstanding innovation within healthcare.
Our application highlighted how SFT is one of the first trusts to exchange paper task lists and bleeps in favour of digital task management. This digital transformation began in the trust’s out-of-hours adult acute services and is saving an average of 91 minutes per user per shift and contributing to a significantly smoother operation of the hospital, and reduced overload and bleep fatigue for staff.
The judging panel was made up of a range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, including; Sarah-Jane Marsh (Chief Executive, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s FT); David Probert (Chief Executive, University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust); Dr Bola Owolabi (Director Health Inequalities, NHS England and NHS Improvement); Eugine Yafele (Chief Executive, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust); Tracy Allen (Chief Executive Officer, Derbyshire Community Health Services Foundation Trust).
Despite the tough competition, the judges said that Infinity Health and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s project to “banish the bleep out of hours” stood out as a success story worthy of a prized place on the panel’s shortlist.
At this first stage of judging, the shortlist was based on ambition; outcome; value; involvement and working together and crucially, how the project might be “picked up” and replicated elsewhere for the benefit of both patients and professional colleagues.
“We are honoured to be shortlisted for this HSJ Awards with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The teams have worked incredibly hard to make this project a success and the results speak for themselves. Being shortlisted is great recognition of the significant impact the right technology and leadership can have on frontline NHS staff.”

"Over the last few years, we have been moving towards safe and effective ways of working digitally and this has become the norm for so many areas of healthcare, including the way our colleagues communicate with each other.
“This partnership has been a great example of how we can work together and transform the management of tasks to support each other and improve patient care.”
— Dr Luke Gompels
Chief Clinical Information Officer, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust
“On behalf of all my colleagues, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Infinity Health and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust on being shortlisted as a finalist. All of the applications represent the ‘very best of the NHS’ and often leave our esteemed panel of judges with an impossible choice!
“Year on year the number of entrants continue to rise which I find so encouraging and is testament to the effect that HSJ Awards can have on improved staff culture and morale.
“We’re all very much looking forward to welcoming our finalists to the awards ceremony in November, celebrating their impressive achievements and jointly acknowledging our values of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and continuously driving for better service. But we never forget that the award ceremony is not just a celebration within a night, but a platform to recognise the hard work of all our NHS staff, all year round.”
